11th Grade Math

Our focus in math class this semester is developing positive math learning norms and preparing for the SAT. We will be partnering with our current senior math classes and exploring mathematics through individual and collaborative learning techniques. We will see how making mistakes in math is valuable, and that asking questions are really important for strengthening your understanding of the content. We'll also be creative, and make connections in math as we discover that math is about learning and not performing, and that depth is more important than speed.

In our first month, we'll cover:

Solving Linear Equations

Equations with two variables

Graphing in the x-y plane

and

Graphing linear systems

Systems of equations

Polynomials and algebraic fractions

factoring

and

Quadratic equations

Working with functions

Absolute value equations and inequalities

Algebraic inequalities

Some of these topics may be review, but we'll dive deeper to strengthen your skills in these areas and provide three levels of difficultly while you grow your reasoning and communication skills.
